What is ‘Silent Season’?

For approximately one month of the year, in winter, the distillery ceases production in order to carry out essential maintenance work. During this time access to the distillery may be restricted for Health and Safety reasons – please check our Silent Season page.

 

Can I purchase whiskies and gifts from your shop online?

Yes! We offer a great selection of our whiskies, including some distillery exclusives, online, as well as a range of our most popular gift items. Visit Shop.Dewars.com to browse our selection, and join our mailing list to receive updates on new ranges.

 

Can I purchase gift cards for tours at the distillery? 

Yes! We offer gift cards, for a selection of monetary values, available to order online. Head to our online shop to browse gift cards.

 

Do you sell limited editions?

Yes! The Distillery shop sells limited editions and single cask bottlings, as well as offering the opportunity to hand fill your own bottle of exclusively aged Aberfeldy Single Malt – only available at the Distillery.

 

What are your opening hours? When is the last tour of the day?

As a general rule, our opening hours are as follows:

  • April to October – Monday to Saturday 10am – 6pm, Sunday 12 midday – 4pm
  • November to March – Monday to Saturday 10am – 4pm. Closed Sundays.

We close for a short period over Christmas – please check our website near the time for announcements.

You must always leave time for your chosen whisky tour before the experience closes. Booking online is mandatory to secure your experience.

 

When do the whisky tours start?

Whisky tours begin from when we open and take place throughout the day.

 

Do we have to book? 

Booking in advance is mandatory. Group bookings need to be made directly, rather than on the website – please call +44 (0)1887 822010, or email aberfeldydistillery@dewars.com.

 

What payment methods do you accept?

All major credit and debit cards are accepted when making a booking online. When visiting us, payments can be made using all major credit and debit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay. We do accept cash at Dewar’s Aberfeldy Distillery but card payments are preferred.

 

Can you cater for large groups?

Large groups must be pre-booked in advance. Please call +44 (0)1887 822010 (select option 4), use our contact form, or email aberfeldydistillery@dewars.com to book parties of more than 12 people.

 

 Are there any concessions available?

 Yes, we offer concessions on full-price Aberfeldy Tour tickets for those aged 65+, members of the Armed Forces community and Veterans with a valid card and Blue Light emergency services with a valid card. Simply select a concession ticket when booking online and bring your relevant identification with you when visiting us. Prices may vary depending on the time of year – please check the details on our Tours page.

 

 I am driving – can I still do the tour?

Yes! For drivers, we provide free sample bottles to take your tasting away and enjoy it at home. Just book our ‘Drivers’ tour’. Want to upgrade to the Connoisseur or Cask Tasting Tours and receive additional bottles for all your tastings? Please book the Drivers’ tour, and you can pay for the upgrade once onsite. You will still take the tour with your group.

Is there disabled access to the Distillery?

We offer full wheelchair access in the Whisky Lounge, cafe and distillery shop as well as the heritage exhibition and warehouse. Access is limited in the distillery due to stairs. Can we take children on the Dewar’s Aberfeldy Distillery whisky tour?

Yes. As long as they are supervised by their parents or guardians. Obviously under 18s can’t sample the whisky!

 

Can we take photos?

Photography is permitted in the warehouse and visitor centre. We are happy to send you photos of the production process by email after your visit.

 

Are tours available in different languages? 

Our tours are only in English, but our tablet-based app which is used for the heritage exhibition, and our printed guide which explains our production tour, are available in nine languages. These languages are French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Greek, Russian, Japanese and Chinese, as well as an English version. If you would like to bring an interpreter, please let us know in advance.

 

Are dogs permitted?

Unfortunately, no dogs (except assistance dogs) are permitted within the shop, cafe or distillery.  Dogs can come onto the distillery grounds site as long as they are on a lead.

 

It’s a production site – do we have to wear any special clothing?

No specialist clothing is required, however, as a traditional working distillery, sensible footwear must be worn – this means no open-toed shoes or high heels on the distillery tour. Loan wellingtons/shoes & free socks are available if required.

 

Do you have an engraving service?

Yes, we can engrave a selection of our bottles with personal messages, or perhaps one of Tommy Dewar’s ‘Dewarisms’! Engraving costs £5 per bottle engraved. How do we get to Dewar’s Aberfeldy Distillery via bus or train?

By train – the nearest train station is Pitlochry, you would then need to take either a bus or taxi to Aberfeldy.   By Bus – buses run from Perth to Aberfeldy/Pitlochry to Aberfeldy and go past the visitor centre. This bus should be the number 23. The bus will stop outside the distillery if you ask the driver. Please check our location page for more information.

 

Do you have tours leaving from Glasgow or Edinburgh?

Rabbies Tours offer daily excursions to Dewar’s Aberfeldy Distillery and other attractions in The Highlands, leaving from and returning to Edinburgh city centre. Book the Highland Lochs Glens & Whisky Tour here. You must purchase your distillery tour ticket separately when you arrive.

 

Do you offer Private or Luxury Tours of the Distillery?

We can offer private whisky tours of the distillery with your own personal tour guide, or we can create a bespoke luxury itinerary for you. We can also offer out of hours tours – please call +44 (0)1887 822010 or email aberfeldydistillery@dewars.com to start planning your visit.

 

Can I hire the Distillery as a venue for my event?

Yes – check out our events information pages and email aberfeldydistillery@dewars.com for more details about special events and private hire. Our Sales, Events & Marketing Manager will be delighted to discuss your requirements with you.

 

Can you identify/date a bottle of whisky or an item of Dewar’s memorabilia for me?

We cannot personally identify your item or offer a valuation, but if you email us the details, including any bottle numbers/identifying marks, photos and details on when/where it was purchased, we will pass your enquiry on to our archivist and try to provide you with more information.

 

I have an advertising proposal for Aberfeldy/Dewar’s – who can I contact?

If you have a proposal to promote Aberfeldy or Dewar’s whisky, please use the contact form on the main Dewar’s website to reach out to the brand marketing teams. I have a product quality query or issue, can you help?

If you purchased your bottle from the shop at Dewar’s Aberfeldy Distillery, please email full details to aberfeldydistillery@dewars.com and we will get back to you directly.

Where can I buy your products, either in or outside the United Kingdom?

  • UK  – Our online shop delivers directly from Dewar’s Aberfeldy Distillery to UK addresses only. Please note that standard editions may well be available at other stockists – prices may vary.
  • Outside the UK – Unfortunately, we are not able to offer delivery from the online shop to international addresses. If you don’t have a UK address and wish to purchase gift items (non-alcohol) that are not currently available in your country, some people have used https://www.forward2me.com/ to handle onward delivery. This company is not affiliated with Dewar’s Aberfeldy Distillery in any way, so please do your own research.
