A simple twist on the classic old fashioned, accentuating the honeyed richness of Aberfeldy 12 year old whisky. The heather honey together with the addition of aromatic and orange bitters helps balance the serve whilst bringing extra complexity drawing on flavour cues of orange and vanilla found in Aberfeldy.
50 ml Aberfeldy 12 year old 5 ml Heather Honey Syrup* 2 dashes Angostura Bitters 2 dashes orange bitters Orange zest garnish
1 Add the heather honey syrup, bitters and half a measure of whisky to the glass 2 Add cubed ice and stir 3 Slowly add the remaining whisky and more ice cubes, continue to stir 4 Cut and then twist an orange zest expressing the oils over the drink and then garnish 5 *Heather honey syrup recipe: 50:50 Heather honey and hot water, stir and leave to chill. Bottle and use accordingly.
